Target is holding Circle Week July 9-15.

Target is hosting its biggest sale of the season in mid-July.

The discount giant will host Target Circle Week, Sunday, July 9 – Saturday, July 15, 2023, exclusively for members of its free Target Circle loyalty program. The announcement comes the same day Amazon revealed that its annual Prime Day sales extravaganza for members of its paid Prime Day membership program (although free trial members can also participate) will take place this year July 11-13.

The weeklong event will offer deals of up to 50% on both Target-owned and national brand products, in stores, online and on the Target app. Target is revealing some discounts now and will unveil additional deals on on Sunday, July 9.

All Target Deal Days purchases will be eligible for in-store and curbside pickup, as well as same-day delivery via the Target-owned Shipt platform. Free shipping will be available for any purchase of $35 or more made with a Target RedCard credit card.

Previously, Target counterprogrammed Amazon Prime Day with a two-day summer sales event called Target Deal Days. Target also ran a fall edition of its Deal Days event in October 2021, which essentially served as an early Black Friday holiday promotion.

Like Amazon, Target does not separately release performance results from its sales extravaganza events. However, the discounter did reveal that sales grew by more than 2.5 times during its 2020 Deal Days event (held in October due to the COVID-19 pandemic) compared to 2019 Deal Days, with customers saving millions of dollars on purchases.

"Target Circle Week is our way of saying 'thank you' to our guests," said Cara Sylvester, executive vice president and chief guest experience officer, Target. "Guests have saved millions of dollars during previous Target Circle Weeks, and this summer they'll have yet another opportunity to celebrate that only-at-Target feeling of affordable joy as they stock up on essentials, discover new favorites and shop online, in store or with our industry-leading same-day services."

Target Circle members have access to offers, personalized deals and various additional savings opportunities.

Prime Day 2022 breaks records with almost $12 billion in sales

Prime Day has become a big business event. According to Adobe Digital Economy Index data, total U.S. online spend across retailers during Prime Day 2022 reached an all-time high of $11.9 billion (including $6 billion on day one and $5.9 billion on day two), representing 8.5%growth compared to $11 billion in PrimeDay total online revenue in 2021.

Looking ahead to this year’s event, nearly all (95%) respondents are likely to browse or buy something during Prime Day 2023, according to an Amazon-focused poll of 1,000 U.S. consumers by omnichannel marketing platform Skai.

Minneapolis-based Target Corp. operates nearly 2,000 stores across the U.S. and an e-commerce site.
